Joyce Lucas - Founder
Hi, My name is Joyce Lucas. I’m the founder of Make Mine Pink.

Somewhere along the path to starting my own business I found that networking with other women in business was not only fun and inspiring it was crucial to my success as a woman in business. It was with this in mind that the idea for Make Mine Pink came to be.

Founded in 2004, Make Mine Pink was born from a personal need to connect with other women like myself that were struggling to not only get their businesses started, but to gain the recognition that we as small business owners need to succeed.

I’d found the journey into business thus far to be very lonely and isolating. Women that I met that were already successful, seemed reluctant to share advice, perhaps for fear of competition. I really didn’t understand their reasons and I’m not even sure they understood their reluctance. The concept of networking was not really alive and well in small business circles yet. Their unwillingness to help didn’t make sense to me then, and doesn’t make sense to me now. If I asked questions, I was more often than not, met with uncomfortable silence. I didn’t want to make anyone uncomfortable. I wanted to start my own business and pave my own little path to success. I didn’t have any interest in jeopardizing their success in any way.
I became more determined than I had ever been, to find those answers myself. I didn’t allow any obstacles to stand in my way. I spent countless hours on the internet and at the local library doing research and in the process of following my dream, I would make many mistakes along the way. I’m happy to say that taking the leap and following my dream was not one of those mistakes.
Looking back, I’ve come to realize that those mistakes, served as the backbone of Make Mine Pink. I quickly established myself as the expert in “what not to do when you start a business” without fully realizing the impact that this would make in the small business community. I knew in my heart that I wanted to use my new found knowledge to help other women in business and I set out to find a way to make that happen.

In 2004 I rounded up a few business women I had come to know on the web, seven of us at that time, and shared my concept. I knew that through networking, shared experiences, resources and advertising, our journey to success would became a little easier. What started out with seven like-minded women has gone to over seventeen hundred members.  All wonder, creative women, all with the dream of owning their own business. Some were hobbyists, some were single work at home moms, some were established businesses looking to establish a presence on the web, while others owned or dreamed of owning a brick and mortar store.
Together as a group and individually, we are happy to share our knowledge, our experience, our wisdom and especially inspiration with each other. We share resources, brainstorm new ideas and we are excited at each other's success. We are the support net that so many women don’t have in their lives.
Make Mine Pink has become one of the most unique and supportive networking groups on the web, while at the same time offering premier shopping and services provided by the members.

I’m proud that my vision has provided a safe and supportive environment where women can come and feel comfortable as they begin their journey of bliss.  I am proud of the women that make up this membership. Their courage and determination is awe inspiring.
